The Florida Gators football team has done it once again this week and bring their undefeated season to 4 games in a row. It was a very mediocre game as the second half ended and the Gators trailed the Tennessee Volunteers 7-17 and it wasn't until late into the fourth quarter that the Gators came out fighting and were able to secure a win. It was another great day to be a Florida Gator! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjotaPaMY5U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=10&v=3Iu1Z0h1i1Y Khan Academy and Pixar Animation Studios have partnered to create Pixar In a Box, an all-in-one walkthrough of how Pixar movies are created. Its an incredible many-step process that describes character and environment modeling, animations, lighting, rendering and more. Each of these topics includes descriptions and video examples and even goes as far as giving a few math examples relating to the movie magic. I will probably be looking through this in the next few weeks, but I wanted to share as I know how excellent the many other Khan Academy videos are. Check out the article I found on Lifehacker or start learning more about the Pixar process over on Khan Academy!
I know that I am ready for the Fall semester to start and I think it is fair to say that President Fuchs is excited as well! Here is to a new year with a new University President, a new Head Football Coach, and a new set of experiences. Good luck to everyone and Go Gators! The wait is over. Let's do this, Gators! https://t.co/jeuCEmNHK6 — Univ of Florida (@UF) August 21, 2015
I am able to solve a 3x3 Rubik's cube and managed to get somewhere in the 6 minute range for solving it. Over the years, I have seen 4x4 and 5x5 cubes solved by friends, but Kenneth Brandon (AKA RedKB on Youtube) goes even further than that. Brandon manages to solve a 17x17 Rubik's cube is a mere 7.5 hours, which is incredible considering that is less time spent than the average American watching TV per week. When it is all said and done there are 66.9 quinquagintatrecentillion (6.69 * 10^1054) possible combinations on this cube. Truly remarkable. Listen to his explanation and see the magic happen below or read the original article over on Interesting Engineering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=342&v=qlnUEknwdcI
https://vimeo.com/oculusstorystudio/henrypremiere Oculus Rift has big things planned for the near future. The potential for the soon-to-be-released virtual reality hardware is now looking beyond video games and into full-fledged entertainment. Meet Henry, the hug-loving porcupine starring in one of Oculus' upcoming short videos. Instead of interacting with his "pre-programmed" environment, Henry will interact with YOU. When you move around his home, filled with colorful balloon animals and birthday decorations, Henry will follow. His eyes meet yours and you begin to become part of the story and how it will play out. This preview only scratches the surface for interactive entertainment in all age groups and is a huge leap forward to being part of the game, movie, or otherwise fully immersive experience coming to a Rift near you. Elon Musk has dropped the gauntlet yet again, this time in the car industry with his company, Tesla Motors. Musk claims that Tesla cars will be able to function autonomously about 90% of the time that they are used. With a statement like that, I can't wait to see what kind of technology the company will be rolling our in 5-10 years! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PnTvmYea6o BEAT IDAHO! Update: After hours of storms and delays the Gators only played one play, a kickoff return.
